Festival of Student Achievement to be held Thursday

Nicki Schebaum, Staff Writer

The Festival of Student Achievement (FOSA) is an annual event Rockhurst holds to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that faculty, staff, and students have put into their academics and activities around campus. The festival also recognizes those who have shown great leadership on campus and around the community.

Every year, FOSA grants numerous awards. To name a few, they hand out a Rising Star Award, given to a student or organization that has shown great improvement, an Outstanding Support for Diversity Award, given to a student or student organization that exemplifies a commitment to diversity, and a Living the Mission Emerging Student Leader Award, given to two students who are freshmen or sophomores who have shown leadership throughout the academic year.

The festival will hold a Rockhurst Outstanding Research Seminar. At the seminar, students will be able to display their work. Students are able to present their projects through oral presentations, interactive demonstrations, art exhibitions, and poster sessions. Graduating Mathematics majors will be presenting their final projects during the festival along with many other students. The festival also encourages the performance of poetry readings, dramatic scene readings and singing.
