Things to do this summer in KC
May 31, 2022
As summer approaches, many of you may be wondering what you are gonna do with your summer between jobs and school. Taking time off is very important, and what better way to relax and join the fun summer than finding things to do in Kansas City? Kansas City has many different things to do during the summer; some are free and others cost a little bit of money, but they are all fun and can get you out of the house to enjoy the beautiful city and warm weather. There are many different music events and art fairs going on. There are parades and Royals games as well.
One event that I think would be fun for all is the Free Summer Dance Party WERQout with Haley Struxness and the Studio Crew. This event is in North Kansas City at Chicken and Pickle. Chicken and Pickle is a restaurant with a roof top bar and pickle bar courts. Most of their food is based around chicken, but their menu is also varied. The event that is happening is a guided work-out class. It is a dance fitness workout routine, and it is suppose to get you up and moving while also having fun and being with friends and family. This event in on 10-11 a.m. on July 31.
The second event that would be enjoyable to attend this summer is the Kansas City Pride Festival. This event happens all throughout Kansas City, but the main events are in Frank Theis Park. The dates of this event are Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12. This event has music all throughout the weekend and also has a parade on the June 11. Before the parade, Westport businesses have a pre-parade party with food and much more. This parade begins at 11 a.m. at Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue. All ages are welcome, but Sunday is very family oriented with activities and entertainment.
The third and last event that could be fun to attend this summer is the WeekEnder! This event is all throughout July. The exact dates are the 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 of July. The WeekEnder is to end of your week in a positive way and try to relax! There are local bands performing and food trucks. At the end of the night, you can watch a movie under the stars. This is at the Crown Center Square. The night beings at 6 p.m. and the movies begin at 9 p.m.. Some of the movies they have chosen to play are Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, A League of Their Own, and Jungle Cruise. Some of the bands they have chosen to perform are The Damien Gunn Band, The KC All Stars, and Retroactive. This event sounds like to perfect way to unwind from a long week or to hang out with friends.
There are many other different events to do this summer like concerts, art fairs, and food trucks. Make sure to get outside and explore the Kansas City area while the weather is warm!
