Ambassador Office decides to go in a different direction

At the start of 2017, the Ambassador Office decided it was time for a change. It was out with the old and in with the new. Luke Beckett, the new Ambassador Advisor, decided it was time to take all 64 student ambassadors in a different direction…a new tour route.

As a second semester senior, I was not necessarily excited about this new tour route. I have spent the last two-and-a-half years perfecting my spiel at each stop and point of interest along the way. I could list off random facts, important dates and statistics in every building during the hour-long tour. But this is not what prospective students and families want to hear.

According to Luke Beckett, this new tour route takes out a lot of the nitty gritty facts that you can find on any Rockhurst brochure. The new route also incorporates a more personalized experience for each student. During the tour we ask the students more about their lives, we tell them about our memories and experiences here as a student and we make the tour more relatable to what their life at Rockhurst could be like. It’s a win-win for both the ambassadors and the families. The students gain valuable insight into how they can fit in and thrive here at Rockhurst and the ambassadors have less to memorize!

All in all, this change really is for the best. So to all you “non-bassies”, check out the video for a quick glance at the new direction we’re headed in.
