New Season, Same Dream

Hometown spirit was high last season, and this year Rockhurst Royals fans are still brimming with confidence in their team.

“I think that last season was a good sign.  It was an indicator for this season, for sure,” said senior Tate Calderello.

The Royals surprised their city and the nation last season, coming within one game of stealing the Series title.  Their quick runners and deadly pitching lineup made them the underdog heroes of the 2014 World Series.

The Royals quickly captured the heart of America’s baseball lovers. Back home, fans packed Kauffman Stadium and the Power and Light district. The miraculous comeback infused the city with excitement after a 29-year slump.

Rockhurst students are clearly still riding that wave of excitement for this upcoming season.  Some are perhaps, too excited.

“The Royals are gonna do great.  They’re gonna kill it, and everyone who stands in their way,” said senior Megan Reid.

The Royals opened today against the White Sox at Kauffman stadium. The Royals won 10-1.
